Singapore Airlines’ A380

SuiteDo you dread long flights as much as the other person? Singapore Airlines just recently launched their superjumbo A380 which boasts of more space for their passengers. There are 12 Singapore Airlines Suites, 60 business class seats and 399 economy class seats. The suites are enclosed by sliding doors, and have leather seats and a 58cm flat screen, and a foldable bed.

economy_seat_2.jpgEconomy seats have more leg room, USB port and plug for charging, and separate screens for video on demand (not so new, since KLM has that for some of their aircraft already, as far as I know).

Some of the seats of the first flight for this momentous launch were sold for as much as $100,000+.

Tips on Posting Effective Classified Ads

Our second video tutorial is about helpful tips on posting effective classified ads. The main idea is to keep your ads short and simple. In general, people hate reading, so your ad has to make an impact with the least amount of words possible. Having titles that span more than one line is not a good idea, as it bores the users. Another thing that is irksome is the tendency of some posters to repeat details. For instance, the title already states that there is a job opening as a programmer, but the user states it again in the description. This lengthens the ad, and will increase the chances of the user stopping midway through your ad post.

The video tutorial expounds these tips:

Desperate Housewives’ derogatory Remark on Filipinos

This just in. In an episode of “Desperate Housewives“, Teri Hatcher’s character (Susan) is at a hospital, being told by her gynecologist that she might be hitting menopause. Susan replies, “Can I just check those diplomas because I just want to make sure that they are not from some med school in the Philippines.” If you go to abc.com, you watch the full episode and witness the scene at about 18:50 minutes into the episode.

How could this have possibly passed the producers anyway? People make a big deal about Isaiah Washington’s supposed derogatory remarks against the sexual orientation of his co-star (which, to this day, I am still unsure as to its validity), but this comment - which, clearly, is more obviously discriminatory, is not given enough attention.

This is clearly a bad move from the producers since a good majority of Filipinos tune into this TV series. Then again, maybe they feel that they don’t need to bother with their ratings in a “backwater country” like us.
